Pioneer Day Commemoration

As most of you know, July 24th was Pioneer Day. On Saturday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. MDT, there will be a live Internet stream of the Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Orchestra at Temple Square, and special guests, the Osmonds.

I am so grateful that the early pioneers of the church had the courage to stand strong for their convictions. My heart goes out to them for the many trials and the persecution they had to endure. My family had a reunion in Nauvoo a few years back and it opened my eyes even more to their great courage and their commitment to the Lord. We were also able to visit Carthage where the prophet was killed. I have a deep admiration and love for Joseph Smith. I know he was a prophet of God and that he restored The Gospel of Jesus Christ in these the latter days.

When I was in young womens I participated in a pioneer trek. It was such a neat experience for me. I know it doesn't come close to what they experienced, but I got to feel a little bit of what it might have been like.

I always loved pioneer day, I have some rich pioneer ancestory myself. Somehow I totally missed it this year, it just came and went and I didn't even realize until I called my parents and they had the day off.
(about the water balloon and YC, those boys in our ward were launching water balloons at me, and one hit me, so I had to take things into my own hands and get the culprit back:)
