I re-stained our stairway. It took me about a month of working at it a little at a time. For those of you who don't know how they looked before, they were a light oak. I'm into the more modern dark woods. It was a lot of hard work- (sanding and re-staining around all those posts) and making it look even. I wanted to get it done before we got our new carpet and I am glad I did. I got a lot of drips on the carpet like I thought I might.

Oooh, I LOVE it. It looks so much better. I can't wait to see what the carpet will look like; btw, let me know what carpet you guys decide on (or if you've already decided). Great job!
