Twilight!

Okay, I finally did it! Holly, Tara and my sister Cindy finally talked me into reading Twilight! The author is Stephenie Meyer. She is an LDS author. I bought it yesterday and finished it today around 1:00. It was really suspenseful!! I couldn't put it down. The second book in the series is New Moon. I just went and got it. I'm anxious to see where this book will take the story! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. The movie comes out 12/12/08.

Pioneer Day Commemoration

As most of you know, July 24th was Pioneer Day. On Saturday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. MDT, there will be a live Internet stream of the Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Orchestra at Temple Square, and special guests, the Osmonds.

I am so grateful that the early pioneers of the church had the courage to stand strong for their convictions. My heart goes out to them for the many trials and the persecution they had to endure. My family had a reunion in Nauvoo a few years back and it opened my eyes even more to their great courage and their commitment to the Lord. We were also able to visit Carthage where the prophet was killed. I have a deep admiration and love for Joseph Smith. I know he was a prophet of God and that he restored The Gospel of Jesus Christ in these the latter days.

Happy Birthday Rick!!

San Antonio Youth Temple Trip!

Yesterday we had a youth temple trip to the San Antonio Temple and I was able to go with them. We left the church around 1:30. Got to CiCi's Pizza around 4:00- ate and then on to the temple for the baptismal session for the youth. We got back to Corpus around 10:30. I am so glad I got to go and see all the youth (especially Austin and Taylor) get a chance to be baptized for those who never got the chance here on earth to hear about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I rode in the car with our Ward's Young Women's President- Tynel Jarnagin. It was fun talking and getting to know her better- She is so... sweet. I'm so grateful I had the chance to attend the temple with the youth and youth leaders. It was a very Special day!

It just wouldn't be a youth temple trip without going to CiCi's!!

Our New Kitchen!

As some of you might know, especially my husband and my children, I love to decorate!! Last October we started a kitchen redo. We decided that our white wash cabinets and pink laminate countertops just had to go. We painted the cabinets and had a company come in and install granite countertops. The redo did not cost us that much because we did everything ourselves except the countertops. My husband also took down the gigantic light box and installed ceiling can lights and 2 pendants over the bar. I appreciate all the hard work my husband did to make such big improvement in our home. Thank you honey!!

Here are our before and after pictures.

--Before--
--After--Much Better!!
Stayed tuned for more before and after pictures.
We still have whitewash cabinets in the bathrooms!

A Day at the Beach!

"Fun In

The Sun"

We went to the beach when the Holly, Joey and the girls were down visiting. It was Cali's first time at the beach. She was so cute. She grabbed a handful of sand and it went straight to her mouth. We had a fun time making sand castles, playing in the surf and the girls tried their hand at surfing (with the help of their dad). Joey's parents and sister and her kids were able to come too. We had a great time.

I love this picture of the girls. I think I am going to frame this one!

Check These Out- Cupcake Pops!

I made these cupcake pops for part of our 4th of July Celebration yesterday. I got the idea from a really neat blog site- Bakerella. Of course mine didn't look quite as nice as the ones on the site, but if you don't compare them they look pretty good. My kids really love them. Hope you had a great 4th of July. Below are some cupcakes I made for Mother's Day. I got the idea off the same blog site. I love to be creative and try new things. If any of you know of any sites I might be interested in, please let me know.

Happy Birthday America!!

I am so grateful to live in such a blessed nation. In Ether 2:12, from The Book of Mormon, it states: "Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ". I know this is true and pray that the God will continue to protect America for all those who have faith in his Son Jesus Christ.

I am so grateful for our Founding Fathers

I know they were inspired to come to America so that the
Gospel of Jesus Christ
could be restored in these Latter Days.
I know that the Declaration of Independance is an inspired document.

Weekend with the Kids

These are some pictures we took when Holly and Joey and the girls came to visit us at the end of June. We had lots of fun. We went to the base pool with Joey's parents, had a fabulous luau for Cali (put on by his parents), and spent a morning at the beach. We had fun making ice cream in a bag, decorating flip flops and making water bracelets for the girls and of course going out to one of our favorite Mexican Food Restaurants. We had a wonderful time and I miss them already. Thanks for coming and visiting us!
